David Irwin
David has more than ten years of experience representing individuals, businesses, and public entities in civil matters, which include litigation and transactional matters related to affordable housing, transportation, real estate, condemnation, business and commercial law, employment law, estate planning and probate, and general practice. During that time, David has appeared before the Thirteenth Court of Appeals, State District Courts, County Courts, U.S. District Court and U.S. Bankruptcy Court in the Southern District of Texas, and Justices of the Peace. In addition, David currently serves as general counsel for the Housing Authority of the City of Brownsville and the Cameron County Regional Mobility Authority. Aside from practicing law, David also provides trainings on the Open Meetings Act and the Public Information Act.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, David received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Government from the University of Texas at Austin in 2006 and received a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas School of Law in 2009. David obtained a variety of experience during that time through working for various employers such as Sports Illustrated, Senator Eddie Lucio, Jr., the Travis County Attorney’s Office, the Center for Public Policy Dispute Resolution, the Rentfro Faulk Law Firm, and Federal District Judge Andrew S. Hanen. David also obtained a student bar card during law school and served as a student attorney for the Criminal Defense Clinic. David also served as the Chief Articles Editor of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law.
David has served on the Board of Directors for the Cameron County Bar Association, the Cameron County Young Lawyers Association, and the Brownsville Community Health Center. David is also a graduate of Leadership Brownsville Class XXVII.
